This is great, but I have a mental stumbling block preventing me from appreciating it fully, though no fault of yours. As soon as I read the “geezus christ church” pun, I immediately began hearing the dialogue as if it were spoken by Brett & Jemaine of Flight of the Conchords. And much as I love New Zealand’s fourth most popular parody-folk act, it’s profoundly incompatible with apocalyptic fiction. Although it probably does indicate your skill at writing dialogue for New Zealanders.

Had to google them. Will add what I can find of that pair on youtube to my watching itinerary.

I too breath a heavy sigh even as I relish the writing and your empathy laced with humor in this short piece. Thank you for your great writing and greatness of being. The world is both a wonder and a tragedy as is humankind. This world awaits and needs your writing, humanity, insight and humor. Keep writing. Mike.
